Thursday, October 24th 2013. Quite a morning filled with independent launch practices of the Caipy and Vanguard. It was concluded that the smaller Caipy was preferred for its portability, and the use of the android launching app made the operation more agreeable.
The launch training / practice wrapped up on time for lunch, which was soon followed by preparations for another demonstration. We adjourned to the launch site (the grass field) promptly at 15:00, in anticipation of the VIPs.
Murphy’s Law was in play that fateful afternoon. The Caipy’s first launch ended up in a crash, requiring a minor fix. Simon was then requested to fly the Caipy manually. Next, flying the Vanguard.
The Vanguard had its practice mission flight earlier in the day, which went perfectly fine. It, however, crash-landed in this demonstration flight. Winds in the morning were certainly different.
To wrap the afternoon visit up by the VIPs, back in the hotel, LP gave a presentation on Conservation Drones.
We were invited to the evening drinks and dinner. It was, however, a teetotal and early night for us three: Simon was having food poisoning; LP an incessant cough; and myself, being on a fever and flu medication.
Tomorrow is our last day in Chitwan National Park.
